Why call it a luck walk?
Canal (运河, yùnhé) and luck (运气, yùnqi) share the Chinese character 运. Taige plays on this with 走运 (zǒuyùn), meaning to have good luck: take a walk by the canal and wish your journey well.
Allow at least an afternoon, with more time for museums, meals or evening views. This guide does not promise a measured distance or fixed completion time.
Start on Dadou Road
Leave the homestay at 146 Dadou Road. Notice the roofs, small shops and trees of the historic street before joining the canal-side path.

Follow the canal north to Gongchen Bridge
Head towards Gongchen Bridge along the waterfront, pausing to watch the boats. Take the stone steps for a view, then cross to the west bank. The stepped bridge is not suitable for every mobility need.

Qiaoxi: old lanes and crafts
On the west bank, explore Qiaoxi Historic Block's lanes, wooden doors and old roofs. If craft museums interest you, check opening and booking arrangements first rather than planning to visit every museum.
Xiaohe Park and Xiaohe Straight Street
Continue towards Xiaohe Park, then explore Xiaohe Straight Street (小河直街). Enjoy the riverbanks, old houses and small shops; leave room for a coffee or a quiet pause.

Return via Yingchen Bridge
Head back towards Xiaohe Park and find Yingchen Bridge (迎宸桥), the Y-shaped footbridge. Cross, then follow the canal south to Dadou Road. Check the day's map and access; shorten the walk if you are tired.
Leave time for the evening
Back on Dadou Road, finish with an evening walk around Xiangji Temple's square before returning to the homestay. Entering the temple is optional; check its opening and ticket arrangements separately.
Before you set out
- Wear comfortable shoes, carry water and take care on wet steps and waterfront paths.
- If you use a wheelchair, a stroller or cannot manage steps, discuss alternatives with your host. This loop is not presented as a step-free route.
- Check the day's map, works, crossings, lighting and museum opening. You do not need to finish every stop.
